Customer sent me the original concept art of the character, from which I had to make the Lord of Death, like evil version. The main elements - the mask and red curly hair - should have remained.

First, I looked for different forms of his costume, and the customer later chose one that was closer in silhouette to the original concept of the character. The character is very closely related to the deer aesthetic and I added some deer horns to the design.

Next was the search for colors in the palettes. Our character comes from a huge library inside a sequoia, so I wanted to play around with woody tones, but dark blue was chosen, as the color of the death god from the customer's story.

And then a full-fledged art of the character was made in his evil incarnation. (On top)
